IQ Testing

 

Perhaps you are wondering if you have a gifted child?  Or you are interested in having your child attend a gifted school? Or do you need  guidance and  advice about how to best education and support the emotional needs of your gifted child? Dr. Levy has specialized in gifted testing and has worked for the Mirman School and Davidson Institute for over 18 years, in administering assessments so that parents better understand their child's learning style.   Dr. Levy has a good understanding of the differences in gifted children, and will be able to help you understand your child's whole self. 

 

Dr. Levy will provide a comprehensive IQ and, if interested, academic assessment with your child in order to best understand their learning style.  Assessment takes approximately one to one and half hours with your child.  During the feedback session, parents will gain a very comprehensive understanding of how their child learns, where they fall on the gifted spectrum, grade levels of academic performance, and overall behavioral characteristics   You will have an informative picture of your child's overall development.  After the completion of testing, you will meet directly with Dr. Levy to discuss the results.  The discussion will include identifying and understanding your child's learning style, recommendation about school placement to meet your child's level of academic performance, extra-curricular activities to support your child's continued educational growth, and specialized academic programs for gifted children.

 

 The testing takes 1-1 ½  hours to administer.  I give you the results the same day and discuss the scores in relation to your child’s strengths, weaknesses, attention, problem solving, motivation, learning style, etc.  I do educational consulting with regard to learning environments that match your child’s abilities.  I discuss both learning style and specific schools.  I also make recommendations regarding extra-curricular activities that your child may benefit from when they are bored in school and need additional stimulation.  Plan on meeting for 2 1/2 hours.   Please bring a snack for your child, and I will have a movie for them to watch while we talk.   I write up a report that I mail to you. 

 

My fee is 850.00 (950.00 if I go to your home), payable by check or cash at the time of the appointment.

 

MIRMAN IS THE ONLY SCHOOL THAT REQUIRES IQ TESTING.  HOWEVER, AFTER HAVING WORKED WITH MIRMAN FOR THE PAST 15 YEARS, THEY ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING OUTSIDE CONSULTANTS REPORTS.  SO, PLEASE LOOK AT THEIR WEBSITE TO FIND A TESTER THAT IS RECOMMENDED BY MIRMAN.  

 

DESITE THIS CHANGE IN MIRMAN'S POLICY, I AM STILL CONDUCTING EVALUATIONS FOR FAMILIES SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE A COMPLETE PICTURE OF YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING STYLE, AND DISCUSS OTHER LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS BESIDES THE MIRMAN SCHOOL AS WELL AS A VARIETY OF SUPPLEMENTAL LEARNING PROGRAMS.    YOU WILL BECOME EXTREMELY INFORMED ABOUT PROGRAMS, WEBSITES, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS THAT WILL BEST SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING STYLE.  YOU WILL LEAVE WITH AN EXTENSIVE AMOUNT OF INFORMATION, WHICH YOU WILL FIND USEFUL.    (Please know that if your child reaches a score for Mirman and you would like to apply, you will still need to be re-tested by a Mirman accepted tester.
